2017 SCOPE Day Evaluation

Thank you all so much for attending the 2017 SCOPE Day education event on Monday, November 13th at the Crowne Plaza Hotel–North Columbus. We appreciate your attendance and your support of SCOPE!

To help us plan for 2018’s SCOPE Day, please fill out the following evaluation to let us know what you liked and didn’t like about this year’s SCOPE Day. The evaluation should take no more than 5 minutes. SCOPE Day 2016 Schedule and Program

We hope to see you at SCOPE Day 2016 on Monday, November 14th at the Crowne Plaza Columbus–North! Registration begins at 8:00 a.m. and the opening session starts at 9:00 a.m. Our keynote speakers are Piper Kerman, author of “Orange is the New Black,” and Rick Banas.

SCOPE Day 2016: Registration

The 2016 SCOPE Professional Development Day is Monday, November 14th at the Crowne Plaza North Hotel (6500 Doubletree Ave, Columbus, OH 43229). Conference materials can be picked up at 8 AM; the first session starts at 9 AM.

SCOPE Day 2016: Call For Papers

Do you have a great idea for a workshop presentation for your fellow SCOPE members? Then the 2016 SCOPE Day Planning Committee wants you! Fill out the form attached below with your session title, description, and some biographical information and you’re all set!

Completed forms must be submitted electronically to SCOPE Vice President Betsy Lavinder by August 31, 2016 in order to be considered. (Her contact information is on the form.) You will be contacted with confirmation whether your session proposal has been accepted or declined.

SCOPE Day 2015: Call For Presenters

Do you have an interesting and engaging topic that you’d wish to present to your fellow union members? Then the SCOPE Day planning committee wants YOU! Please fill out the form below with all the required information, and turn it in to Betsy Lavinder, SCOPE Vice-Presdient, by Thursday, May 14th. (Her contact information is on the form.)

SCOPE Day Pre-Registration Due April 15, 2015

This year’s SCOPE Professional Development Day will take place on June 11th, 2015 at Marion Harding High School (1500 Harding Highway East, Marion OH 43302). Registration will begin at 8:00 AM.  The opening session begins at 9:00 AM.

It is our goal to have all attendees pre-register by April 15th, 2015. This year there is a $10 conference fee for members ($25 for non-members) which will be reimbursable through the DAS tuition reimbursement fund (for all employees who have not exceeded their annual $3,500 limit). Lunch is included in the cost.

There will be computers and assistance on-hand for anyone wishing to submit their reimbursement on-site. CEU’s will be available for those that need to renew their license.

If you are not a SCOPE/OEA member, you can join and get the pre-registration fee rate!

Information about the agenda, speakers, etc. will be posted to the SCOPE web site as it becomes available.

Fill out the following information and get registered today! Send the form in by April 15th, and you will be entered into a door prize drawing for a $50.00 fuel card!

SCOPE Day 2013

SCOPE Day 2013 will be held at Marion-Harding High School on Wednesday, June 12th. Registration begins at 8:00 a.m. with opening remarks starting at 9:00 a.m. Registration is FREE for dues-paying members. (Non-dues-paying members or exempt staff can attend the event for $10 to cover the cost of food.)

Many speakers have been lined up for this event, including Reggie Barnes, who will discuss his time as superintendent of one of the poorest school districts in the United States. Mr. Barnes was featured in the Oscar-nominated documentary “LaLee’s Kin: The Legacy of Cotton” in 2001.

Other SCOPE Day sessions will feature topics such as: the Ohio Teacher Evaluation System (OTES), new English curriculum requirements, what the State Library can do for you, and MORE! (Full agenda will be posted here as soon as it’s finalized.)

If you are interested in attending SCOPE Day 2013, please let your site representative know by Friday, May 17th so that he/she can communicate an accurate head count to the SCOPE Executive Board, which in turn assures that enough food is purchased for lunch.
